Plain rules for a free tool. Read them once; they are short on purpose.
Using the site
3DToolBench is free to use, for personal and commercial work alike. No account is needed. You do not owe us anything for a conversion, and we do not claim any part of what you make.
You may not use the site to break the law, to work with files you have no right to, or to attack the site or the people using it. Automated bulk use that degrades the service for others is not permitted.
Your files and your rights in them
Your files stay yours. We never receive them, so we could not claim anything in them even if we wanted to. You are responsible for having the right to convert the files you open.
No warranty
This service is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. File format conversion is lossy by nature. Information that exists in one format frequently has no equivalent in another: colour, units, separate parts, materials, animation, exact curved surfaces. Each conversion page states what is lost for that specific pair, but the list can never be complete for every file.
Always check the result before you rely on it. If a converted file is going to be printed, machined, or sent to a manufacturer, open it in the software you trust and confirm that it is correct.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site. This includes wasted material, failed prints, machine damage, missed deadlines, lost work, or a file that converted differently from how you expected.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Links to other services
The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links at the moment. Some pages link to printing, laser cutting and CNC services; those are ordinary links, and we earn nothing from them. We are not responsible for anything you buy from a third party, and your dealings with them are governed by their terms, not ours.
Availability
There is no guaranteed uptime. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn. A format that works today may be temporarily unavailable if a problem is found with its conversion, because a wrong file is worse than no file.
Third-party software
This site is built on open-source software. Those components are used under their own licences, which are listed on the licences page.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
